Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle- The End of Chaika

The journey comes to an end.

I was going to delay this a bit more compared to the other series because of the infamous BONES original ending thing going on and since the final episode’s air date was close to the release date of Volume 11, I wanted to wait out for spoilers before I tackled the anime series in general. Someone was kind enough to link me to a summary of events in Volume 11 so I think I’m ready to talk about Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle, as well as the series in general.

Massive spoilers ahead but you probably want to know what actually happens.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 8- Three’s Company

Things begin to enter its final stages and Hartgen’s plans are revealed.

The moment I’ve been waiting for is, in my hopes, set up at the end of this episode so I just can’t wait to see it. Speaking of that, the series has 2 episodes to close it off and since Hartgen’s plans do coincide with Gaz’s “Resurrection” one way or another, I can see them pull something with that. Either way, they’d have to mess up pretty hard to make me not like the series.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 7- Not two but three

More setting up and the end is in sight, I guess.

The Light novels apparently bring more Chaika’s into the mix and I hear some more fun things with Gaz being a pretty cool guy too. Anyways, I doubt the anime can cover any of those with the 3 episodes left. Still, even if the first season cut a lot of things out, the show’s premise can move around things nice enough to make it still feel a bit coherent.

Anyways, somewhat uneventful and the scene I wanted still hasn’t come yet.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 2- Two Parts Down

New developments and objectives are given out.

Before we give in, just a few administrative announcements. Akatsuki no Yona will be reviewed at the end of the season along with Fate. While my nationalism points me to cover it, I don’t trust reverse harem series since Arcana Famiglia. Then again, that was an adaptation.

Like I feared, it seems that our heroes’ journeys finally begins again at the end of this episode. This leaves us with only 8 more episodes to conclude the journey but at least they set up some exposition already for not 2 but 3 groups of characters. So let’s not waste anytime and get into this week’s Chaika.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 1- The Crew Returns

One of my favored party of adventurers are back and Toru already has two great reaction faces.

I lamented the fact that I missed out on covering Hitsugi no Chaika but now I can hopefully redeem myself by covering its second season. From what I’ve heard, the first season skipped over a couple points of details while also adding some original scenes to it. Thankfully the series is more focused on the adventure aspect that it didn’t make too big a difference in enjoying the series.

However the only concern for me here is that Chaika’s light novels are coming to an end in the next few volumes. The author/production company also stated that the anime ending will more or less be an original as well. I only hope for the best but they can only do so much to make me hate this series because I honestly can’t.

Enough about that, let’s get right into it.

Hitsugi no Chaika Review- Slayers mixed with Steel Ball Run and the game Overlord.

Approximately a month ago, I sparked a conversation with a friend of mine of how tired I was with the “high school” setting situation that’s more or less prevalent in anything that’s airing. While it is a familiar setting and puts aside exposition, I lamented the fact that we don’t have too many shows where it doesn’t have to involve students. I might be cherrypicking but look at series like Dragonar Academy, Akuma no Riddle, and Mahouka. Why does taming dragons, assassinations, and atomic bombs all have to involve a high school setting? Case in point: I wanted something adventurous again. Something around the likes of Slayers. I’m not asking for anything as grand as scale as that but something that involved constantly changing settings and the likes.

My friend replied to me with that a show like that breaking the norms would be liked by the few while shows that continue the ongoing trend of highschool and absolute moe rake in easy cash. Simply put: Why potentially waste good money when we got a completely secure way of getting the most out of an investment?

Then this series showed up.

Plus I seriously regret not covering this.
