Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle- The End of Chaika

The journey comes to an end.

I was going to delay this a bit more compared to the other series because of the infamous BONES original ending thing going on and since the final episode’s air date was close to the release date of Volume 11, I wanted to wait out for spoilers before I tackled the anime series in general. Someone was kind enough to link me to a summary of events in Volume 11 so I think I’m ready to talk about Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle, as well as the series in general.

Massive spoilers ahead but you probably want to know what actually happens.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 9- Holy Hell

For the sake of keeping consistency in my series reviews, I’m going to make this quick and review the entire second season once it ends next Wednesday. I’m sad to see Chaika go but I really want to know how this chaos is going to end.

I practically knew this sort of thing would happen but damn, rebirth has never looked so disgusting.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 6- Converging Fates

The blood sport begins.

The three teams finally converge where the last few remaining pieces of Emperor Gaz all lead to the Principality of Hartgen and its bloody tournament. I’m still looking forward to one particular scene but I still have my doubts on how they’re going to end this.

Oh well, we’ll find it out how it goes when it happens. I hope for the best.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 5- Red and White

We seem to have gained a new party member. Strike up the band, we need the obligatory new party member tune.

We’ve got some divide and conquering action scenes going on while the crew sneak around and sabotage the entire facility. Quite the action packed episode and the great thing is, even more action awaits in the next arc.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 4- The Truth Revealed

The truth is finally out about of the purpose of the Chaika’s.

I’m glad we’re going the through the novels at a decent pace and I hope to see how exactly the finale holds. It’s only 4 weeks but things are heating up and we got at least one conspiracy out of the way. It’s cliffhanger after cliffhanger since last week.

Also for administrative things, SAO’s mini-arc ended and it was once again not in my tastes so let’s not waste both of our times here.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 3- Shipwrecked

Things begin to pick up as the pieces of Emperor Gaz are beginning to thin and the groups begin to converge on their locations.

Administrative stuff first then: SAO is boring the hell out of me so the current arc will be talked about in a trio-bundle if the last episode next week is decent and if not, I won’t talk about it at all and chug through the next arc. I’m quite busy this weekend if you couldn’t tell but expect Twintails up later and then Bahamut again.

I didn’t expect things to hit the fan that nicely by the end of the episode. It’s not such a plot cliffhangar but rarely do I get the chance to see shipwreck scenes with monsters to boot. We’ve got 7 more to go but at least things are already brewing up by the end of this.

Hitsugi no Chaika: Avenging Battle Episode 2- Two Parts Down

New developments and objectives are given out.

Before we give in, just a few administrative announcements. Akatsuki no Yona will be reviewed at the end of the season along with Fate. While my nationalism points me to cover it, I don’t trust reverse harem series since Arcana Famiglia. Then again, that was an adaptation.

Like I feared, it seems that our heroes’ journeys finally begins again at the end of this episode. This leaves us with only 8 more episodes to conclude the journey but at least they set up some exposition already for not 2 but 3 groups of characters. So let’s not waste anytime and get into this week’s Chaika.
