Masamune-kun no Revenge- No Revenge

The season’s popular romcom comes to an end with a less than satisfying note. I’ve probably told my run-in with this series before the anime’s airing but I’ll go over it anyway: The first thing I saw from this series was a single panel from the first chapter where it showed Masamune’s mom and I just couldn’t bear looking at it for a bit. That was around a year and a half ago before they announced the animation project and I think there was something going on me with the time about disliking how the loli bodytype was being over-used and how it mostly lost its comedic impact.

Nonetheless, my interest in the series mostly grew back somehow. I admit I had no expectations other than Aki acting like an uppity snob and looking forward to some banter and I got exactly that for a few episodes. How were the rest? Well let’s find out.

Winter 2017 Anime Recap: Week 11

The last week before Series reviews.

The season started with out with some keen interest and entertaining premises before a particular amount sort of soured through the middle. However, I can’t lie that this season was a nice change of pace after nothing but Jojo and it was overall a very fun experience. Not perfect but damn did I enjoy it. Onihei, for better or for worse, has one more episode before it gets its series review so it’s 11th episode won’t be covered unless it’s just that damn good. But until then, see you for those series reviews coming this week.

Winter 2017 Anime Recap: Week 10

Onihei hits with another effective episode.

I tried to get this one out a bit quicker since other hobbies are starting to pile up on my free time. Would have gotten this earlier if I didn’t stay up til 5 playing games and cursing daylight savings for robbing me of 1 hour to play more games but oh well. I’m sad to see this season go but we’re reaching that point where I’ll be tackling seasonal reviews. Onihei is sitting on a weird spot since it’s one episode behind so 2 of its final episodes won’t be getting covered unless I like it so much that I go out of my way to do so. We’ll see when the time comes.

Winter 2017 Anime Recap: Week 9

Onihei is dethroned of anime of the week.

Mostly because I found it’s past three episodes so much more satisfying. The season is nearing its end and I’m sad to see it go since this is a season that I genuinely enjoyed, and you don’t really hear me saying that, ever. Next season has the 2nd season of BnHA of which I am really eager to see and guess what? 6 freaking harem series, so let’s reignite that fire again with cynicism and losing more faith in the medium.

Winter 2017 Anime Recap: Week 8

Onihei is undisputed my anime of the season. This episode also proved that it didn’t need CG to portray large crowds, only to do it again but hey, milestones and they were able to pull off a number of crowded scenes without CG. Anyways, the last three episodes now have been absolutely fantastic and I really hope this string of great episodes doesn’t end.

Unfortunately, the other shows ranged from status quo enjoyable to a bit disappointing.

Winter 2017 Anime Recap: Week 7

Here we go.

Onihei pulls another fantastic episode while the other episodes had their own decent episodes but just weren’t able to get the featured image spot. Masamune was still pretty enjoyable and Seiren is finally able to get some romance across but I’m still wary on how things will end. Demi-chan’s episode was pretty good with even more nuances given to the setting, especially with a police force specifically made to profile succubi.

Winter 2017 Anime Recap: Week 6

That’s the good stuff

The episode quality rose up this week compared to comparatively weaker stuff from last week. Onihei’s episode was the absolute winner while Seiren finally seems to have gotten back on its track about the whole “romance anime” aspect. Both Demi-chan and Masamune were a bit weaker but apparently we’re due for some exciting stuff next week so we can all look forward to those.
