And that’s all folks.
And Merry Christmas
Whereas the final Volume of Part 4 (Volume 47) was halved to feature the next Jojo, the way that DP handled the ending to the series really hammered down the feel of the homely town of Morioh. While a few visual hiccups, just a handful, were present, I think the music and the line delivery were at their very best and I can confidently say that the adaptation wasn’t a disappointment. Congratulations David Productions, you’re going 4 for 4.
Will most likely do an overall recap on my thoughts of the adaptation sometime soon.

And the QUALITY dips in.
As the final battle actually begins, we get our fair share of good shots between some really poor looking ones. Another spread-panel that I really loved got simplified to a single shot again but oh well. This isn’t something I didn’t expect and I honestly expected worse but some of the far-away shots definitely look way too silly. Other than that, the voice acting and the fight sequences generally looked pretty decent which is a good thing because decent becomes great once the BDs hit, I hope.
Anyway, we have two more episodes to go and I better see my Part 5 lead-off with Koichi

So far so good. The finale has yet to reach any scenes of serious awkwardness in its visual quality for me to really complain on anything about. This week’s intro was also radically changed to fit the Bites the Dust saga with varying amounts of time fuckery, music distortion, and utilizing the final chorus from the full version of Great Days. I personally wouldn’t have minded something a bit more simpler to listen to but I’m glad they bothered to change it.
It’s kind of surreal to think that the series is quickly coming to an end. This is one of my favorite parts, but to be fair, any Part after Part 3 are amazing in their own way in the whole Stand deal. I can only hope for Vento Aureo’s announcement to happen around the Spring and maybe air next Fall.

Hoo boy, the production values really suffered in the episode’s first half. Thankfully, the second half isn’t all that bad and the quality dip only covered the end of Superfly so it could have been way worse. With Superfly over with, I’ll give two more episode to wrap up Engima and Cheap Trick, unless they can really get through Cheap Trick that fast. Either way, things are shaping up for the finale. I sincerely pray they have enough resources to make it look great.

Something unexpected that I praise DavidPro for trying to pull off. Last time, I mentioned how we only had a few fights and episodes left and I didn’t expect them to combine not two but THREE fights involving Supefly, Enigma, and Cheap Trick taking place all at the same time. I’m pretty surprised and I completely approve since I’d rather we hurry with these things and get to the finale, even if the implications of it looking lackluster is pretty high. Hope for the best, expect the worst I guess

We conclude the Highway Star fight as well as getting the opening scenes of Stray Cat.
I will have to say, that I wasn’t completely impressed with the episode for a few reasons, they’re mostly nitpicks. I mentioned before that a lack of the subtle panels and scenes in the previous episodes were being more apparent. Overall, the episode was great, no doubts about that but one of my single-favorite panels in the series didn’t really get all that great of an transition on screen. I realize that it’s quite the big scene to adapt but I feel like the people at DPro have been able to replicate other, more famous panels quite well so it would be an understatement that I felt a disappointed. Hell, the panel I’m talking about is in the first opening during the flurry of panels. Other than that however, it was still enjoyable.

I thought pacing issues would occur if they kept ending off arcs in the middle of things and then start a brand new one. Thankfully, Mikitaka’s little arc is concluded and we move on to the introductory phases of Highway Star before the brunt of its glory is fully tackled for next week.
Also, that light change in the opening immediately after a week just screams to me we’ll get more versions. It also beats the hell out of the reused animation during Kira’s dramatic turn.
