Gametalk 9: Fate/Extra

“No mater the era, deciding who is worthy through battle is the divine providence of man”

I have more “editorial” esque Gametalks being planned out, but I wanted to address the 2-3 games I’ve currently been playing before I forget anything important. The games I wish to just muse about on this occasion is Fate/Extra, Kamidori Alchemy Meister, and maybe Fallout New Vegas but that’s getting itself a longer gametalk so that might not happen. Seeing as though Fate Extra is the most fresh in my memory, I will cover that first here. So Fate Extra happened to be one of my earlier Gametalks back in the first few months of this site’s existance, and looking back on to it now, it was a “simplistic” talk on characters more than….a meaningful post. Now around 1-2 years in the future, after finishing the game 3 times and with improved writing skills, I’ll actually “review” the game. So Spoilers!

Edit: While this was meant to be short, I ended up analyzing and reviewing the damn thing.

Fate Extra 1

There’s around 4000+ words waiting for you down there, so if you actually want to hear what I’m talking about, by all means, hit the button. Continue reading Gametalk 9: Fate/Extra

Gametalk 8: Dante and Vergil

I talked about Devil May Cry a half a year ag0, and now with the release of DmC, I think it’s time once again to tackle the Devil May Cry series once more. Plus, I just platinumed DMC3 like 20 minutes ago

So the topic this time around will be the relationship between the brothers Dante and Vergil, arguably one of my favorite videogame-brother rivalries. I shall cover their history and differences through Devil May Cry 3, 1, 4 and then finally with the newest DmC. I will talk about their gameplay references and styles and the actual plot and character differences presented in each. Let’s get started.

Dante Vs Vergil

Comparing Time!

hippiefreak’s Fall/Winter 2012-2013 Wishlist and a few more stuff

It is customary for me to make a list of demands things I want during the….well I haven’t done this enough to actually call it a tradition but it ain’t too late to start now. With the holiday season coming up, I might as well share some wallet-bleeding items that I covet for the holiday season. I’ve even put on some stuff that I have and stuff that I DON’T want but I’ll go out of my way to explain why.

Mini-Gametalk 2: In Defense of Mists of Pandaria

After being semi-enraged at the idiotic fanbase League of Legends happens to spawn out of its murky ELO Hell (not really, I’m pretty much hooked on to the game), I published a small piece a long time ago telling any and all who listened the origins of the DotA styled games.

Now I feel like I must clarify yet another point in the PC gaming world, this time revolving around the recently released cinematic trailer for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

Gametalk 7: inFAMOUS 2 vs [PROTOTYPE] 2: The Correct way to make a sequel

I have on my tabs Zombie and some character lists that I wish to post but at the moment, I want to talk about some games so I want to get this down first. My summer is gonna get a little busier so I will try to get…something done. Oh yeah, I’m just making a wishlist page too, so you have to hear me talk about the same stuff I want in the game/anime world.

Today, I’ll be talking about the conflict between the two fanbases between the games infamous and Prototype. These two games were released in the same timeframe and because the two games featured a similar gameplay style (guys with superpowers in an open world game), the two would naturally come into conflict, but I will mostly be talking about the sequel of the two games and the deciding factor on how the sequels changed things for the better.

and of course, spoilers.

Gametalk 6: MASS EFFECT 3

Oh yeah, let’s talk about Mass Effect 3 here boys and girls

(Sorry folks, I’m a Cerberus fan)

Judging that it has been around 1-2 months from this highly anticipated game, I expected TRUE fans to have finished it by now. Surely those who have finished it has seen the ending right?  The ending has spawned a humongous uproar that tore apart Bioware’s Mass Effect boards. People created petitions to go against the ending they recieved as they finished the game. The movement known as “Take back the Ending” (a play on the game’s tagline “take Earth back”) would surge throughout the forums and promote the opposition of the ending. It didnt’ stop there. One person even sued Bioware for False advterisement with their game. Another sent a large amount of cupcakes to Bioware with 3 different frostings.

So what the hell exactly happened with the ending? Well that’s exactly what we will be talking about.

Here it is folks, let’s talk about the last game in the Mass Effect 3 Trilogy and its controversial last few moments in the game.

….aaand in order to justify the minor rage that will be inevitabley present in the post, let us turn the dial back to 2007 when the first Mass Effect was released.

Trust me, it is a very simple reason.

Mini-Gametalk 1: DotA, LoL, HoN

I’m currentlywriting the next full game talk and the Kore wa Zombie ep review, but after going around looking at DotA2 character vids, I keep seeing the same misconception. So today I quickly wish to tell all of you people the deal with DotA, LoL, HoN.

I’ve been around the internet for a while and I have been an active person in the gaming community. But when I hear that League of Legends (LoL) or Heroes of Newerth (HoN) came before DotA and that DotA is an unoriginal copy, I really can’t stand by and let this pass.

Really people, this is basic fact. Lemme break it down for you.
